Balsamic Flank Steak Salad

Salads don't have to be boring or flavorless.  My favorite salads combine a variety of flavors and textures and are more than satisfying.  Here's a delicious recipe that's easy to make and perfect for a summer cookout.

  • 2 tablespoon(s) extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon(s) orange juice
  • 2 tablespoon(s) garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) chili powder, red chili flakes
  • 4 pieces portabello mushroom cap
  • 1 1/4 lbs beef flank steak
  • 5 oz spinach
  • 1 oz cherry tomatoes


  1. Marinade: combine 2 tablespoons olive oil, 3 table vinegar, orange juice, 2 tea minced garlic, chili flakes, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
  2. Marinate mushrooms and steak for 1-4 hours
  3. Grill steak and mushrooms. assemble salad
